Solaris是Sun公司开发和维护的Unix类操作系统。Solaris卷管理器(SolarisVolumeManager)是Solaris下的磁盘分区管理工具。Solaris卷管理器实现上存在一个缓冲区溢出漏洞，本地攻击者可能利用此漏洞以root用户的权限在主机上执行任意指令。在某些情况下，Solaris卷管理器可能发生缓冲区溢出，一个本地用户可能利用此漏洞通过溢出攻击以Solaris卷管理器守护进程的权限(通常是root)执行任意指令。
